Soooooooooo…..to go along with the path of ADHD and hyper focusing and impulsivity……..I may have gotten myself into the world of succulents. LOL.
Long story short, I was watching one of my favorite TikTokers where she ordered MYSTERY succulents. And I thought they were SO DARN CUTE. Had to have ‘em.
So I did. I ordered a pack of 5 – 2 inch succulents and some soil and some tiny ceramic pots. Omg they were adorable pots.
Well, I ended up changing up their pots because they could barely fit their current ones (despite being ADORABLE). So I got them 4 inch black plastic pots with a lot of drainage holes in the bottom and a little reservoir.
I transplanted them and so far they have been doing good! I gave them a little bit of water (learned that I should have filled with water but it’s too late now) and have been battling with one of them that keeps losing leaves. (insert crying emoji here).
Anyway, I’m just enjoying watching my 5 succulents which are (Echevaria, Sedum Lemon, Jade, Ghost Succulent, and a Hens and Chicks). Keeping them under my big light while I’m at work, and turning it off at bedtime. So they are getting plenty of light. And attention from my eyeballs because I LOVE seeing their progress.
So…..here comes the ADHD/Hyperfocus/Impulsivity stuff. I’m scrolling on Etsy right? (I should not be allowed an Etsy account). And I find succulents that I LOVE. But, I said I wasn’t going to get any more PLANTS (key word here).
So what do I find while I’m scrolling??? A PACK OF 10+ SUCCULENT CUTTINGS. ON SALE. Remember, this would mean I’m buying CUTTINGS, not PLANTS. (Oh how my mind just LOVES to make sense of spending money).
So of course like any other good ADHDer would do, I ordered more soil, more pots, more lights, and shelves since my desk cannot hold 15+ pots. Got everything I need for the horde of plant cuttings headed my way!
And I’m waiting (impatiently of course) but I FINALLY get my babies (I call my plants/cuttings my babies, cause they are tiny little things that I have to take care of).
So I get the *ding* that “Your order has been delivered”. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. Can’t wait to go home and plant these!!!
So I get home, help my dad put up these shelves, partially finish because the anchors for the shelves were crap and he needs to pick up new ones. So I have 2 shelves up and the rest under my light on my desk. Cool.
Time to start potting! FINALLY.
I get my 10 pots out, my soil, a trashbag to lay out for dirt, a garden shovel, and a big ole smile on my face not realizing what I’ve gotten myself into. But I start any way.
I pack the soil into the pots, nice and pretty, and set them aside. I THEN opened up my package to see exactly what cuttings I was sent. (I forgot to mention this was a MYSTERY cuttings box. Oh and I also forgot to mention that I ordered cuttings of “strings of things”. Lots of trailing succulents).
So I open the box, unroll the fluff they were packaged in, and take a look at all my new babies! There were SO many cuttings. The owner of this company sent me so many extras and they were so well taken care of and shipped perfectly. Her Etsy name is OliviasByAnne. I will link her site below 🙂
The instructions state for transplanting the cuttings with leaves, I was to take the leaves off the bottom ½ inch to 1 inch of the bottom of each string cutting and place it into DRY soil. So I filled my pots with all my new babies. OH. I forgot to tell you what I even got!!!
I received String of Bananas, String of Pearls, String of Dolphins, String of Rubies, String of Buttons, Cotyledon, Burro’s Tail and Sedum Burritos for the immediate potting in soil. Then I received 2 small plastic cups with sphagnum moss, and String of hearts and String of Turtles (MY FAVORITE!). They need to stay in those containers, stay a little moist, and once they start growing roots, I can plant them in the regular big pots with soil.
Ugh. I know this is a lot of ranting about something to most people, probably nothing at all. Some people aren’t plant people. I always have been. (I did Environmental Science in Highschool).
But these little babies have sparked a new happiness in me that I cannot describe. It’s probably the ADHD “high” from new stuff hahaha.
I just hope this hyperfocus holds up for at least 6 months to a year. Maybe, just maybe I can keep this “high” going for a while as I watch them grow and maybe I won’t pick up another hyperfocus hahaha. (Besides my candles/wax melts because I still get asked for those from time to time lol – Link below as well)
I am currently waiting to receive my additional plant lights. And I have to wait 2 weeks for the cuttings to start growing roots before I can give them water. Whichhhhhh bottom watering like 17 succulents is gonna take a WHILE lol. They need about 15mins – 30mins to soak fully and then drain through their drainage holes. (I have learned SO much about succulents in these last 2 weeks hahaha)
Omg – if you have any succulents / house / outdoor plants that you wanna share about or share tips for me????? I’d LOVE that! And pictures would be even better!
I hope this blog kept you entertained as much as my new babies have kept me entertained. 😀
There will definitely be more updates in the future. Heck, maybe this will become a plant blog hahaha!

Here are my babies currently!

I am hoping for the life of me that I can keep these precious little ones alive and thriving for a long time. With ADHD and impulsiveness, most of the time comes with a lack of caring/forgetfulness/loss of interest once that “high” goes down.
So PLEASE make sure that when you are wanting to start a new project, have a new “business” idea, or collection you want to start, remember, “is this something I can commit to for a long time? Or will I lose interest in it”
It’s a terrible cycle, but unfortunately that is how our neurospicy minds work. So just TRY and keep that at the forefront of your brain when thinking about new hobbies.
I’m sure I’ll be updating you all as soon as I see some progress in these little ones!
See ya!
